Boutique Gwendoline, a ladies apparel and accessories boutique, was named to honour the late Gwendoline Tisdale Hayes, wife of W.M. (Mac) Hayes, and mother to Ted, Bruce and Katharine. Gwen passed away in June of 2005 and Katharine returned with her husband Brad from Houston, TX, to live in her parents’ home in Shawville.
In May of 2007, Katharine decided to go into business on her own. After spending her whole working life in administration, sales, and marketing, it was time to be her own boss.
Katharine wanted to work locally and by opening the boutique, she is helping to keep Main Street , Shawville, alive. Exciting new styles are introduced every season. Mother of the Bride gowns, elegant dresses, jackets, cruise wear, pants, and tops – something for every occasion – all completed by a wide assortment of fashion jewellery and accessories. A must-see item in the boutique are the exquisite hand painted scarves by New Orleans artist Ray Cole – and Boutique Gwendoline is the only place in Canada where the scarves ar
e available.
Katharine aspires to attract new visitors to Shawville from both sides of the Ottawa River. Private “retail therapy” evenings for your book club, birthday party, or church group, fashion shows for charities, Customer Appreciation Days, Trunk Shows – there is always a party or special event happening at the boutique.
